Maldives President-Elect Muizzu To Take Oath On Friday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju To Represent India
Maldives President-elect Mohamed Muizzu will be sworn in on Friday in the capital Male. Union Minister of Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju will be representing India at the oath-taking ceremony. Rijiju arrived in Maldives on Thursday to represent India at the invitation of Muizzu.
Muizzu, a close associate of former Maldives President Abdulla Yameen who formed a close relationship with China during his Presidency (2013 to 2018), defeated India-friendly incumbent Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the presidential runoff which was held in September.
India Set To Host Voice Of Global South Summit On Friday
India is all set to host the Voice Of Global South Summit on Friday in a virtual mode. This Summit will build on the success of the first edition held in January 2023 and the outcomes of the various G20 meetings held under India’s Presidency.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the summit and there will be around eight parallel ministerial sessions. The Prime Minister will preside over both the opening and closing sessions.
The Summit has been structured into 10 sessions to bring leaders together to discuss critical issues, according to a release from the External Affairs Ministry. The theme for the Inaugural Leaders’ Session is “Together, for Everyone’s Growth, with Everyone’s Trust,” which underlines the importance of collaborative progress. The Concluding Leaders’ Session, themed “Global South: Together for One Future,” underscores the collective aspirations for a unified and progressive world order.
Kharge To Launch Congress Manifesto In Telangana, Rahul Gandhi To Address Rallies
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will launch the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Telangana polls on Friday. He and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will participate in separate poll rallies across Telangana.
Gandhi will address street corner meetings and road shows covering five assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state.
