LS Polls: Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead Of Counting Of Votes On Tuesday

The Delhi Police have released a traffic advisory for the national capital on Tuesday due to the vote counting for the general elections, according to officials.

The 2024 general elections occurred in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. In Delhi, votes will be counted at seven locations. In northeast Delhi, the vote counting will occur at ITI Nand Nagri.

As per the PTI report, traffic movement will be restricted on the stretch from Gagan Cinema T-Point to Nand Nagri Flyover on Wazirabad Road (Mangal Pandey Road) starting at 5 am, as stated in the advisory.

Traffic will be diverted from the Bhopura border, Tahirpur T-Point, and Gagan Cinema T-Point. Wazirabad Road (Mangal Pandey Road) will be closed to general traffic from 5 am onwards, the advisory added.

In east Delhi, the vote counting will be held at the Commonwealth Games Village, Akshardham.

Excise Policy Cases: SC To Hear Sisodia’s Bail Pleas On Tuesday

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court’s decision to reject his bail pleas in cases filed by the ED and CBI related to the alleged liquor policy scam.

According to the cause list on the Supreme Court’s website, a vacation bench consisting of Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Mehta is set to hear Sisodia’s pleas on Tuesday.

As per PTI, on May 21, the Delhi High Court dismissed Sisodia’s bail applications in the separate cases lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), dealing a significant blow to the former deputy chief minister. The high court cited serious misuse of power and breach of public trust by Sisodia in its ruling.

The high court stated that Sisodia’s actions amounted to a “great betrayal of democratic principles” and noted that he allegedly destroyed crucial evidence, including electronic records.
