President Murmu To Witness Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra Today
President Droupadi Murmu will witness Jagannath Rath Yatra in Odisha’s Puri on July 7, an official release by Rashtrapati Bhavan stated on Friday. The grand Jagganath yatra is set to begin today and is expected to be attended by 12-15 lakh people.
While on her four-day visit to the coastal state from July 6 to 9, the President will also be attending the historic yatra in Puri amid tightened security.
Speaking to reporters in Puri, ADG (law and order) Sanjay Kumar said tight security arrangements have been made in and around Puri to ensure smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra.
“Special security arrangements have been for the President’s visit to the festival. While a VIP zone has been planned for the Odisha governor, chief minister, Union ministers and other dignitaries, a buffer zone has been planned for the President,” Kumar said.
He also added that a “dedicated team led by a senior SP rank officer has been formed to supervise the visit of Murmu to the pilgrim town.”
On July 8, President Murmu will visit Udayagiri caves, where she will interact with the students of Bibhuti Kanungo College of Art and Crafts and Utkal University of Culture.
She will also inaugurate the Divine Retreat Centre of Brahma Kumaris at Haridamada village near Bhubaneswar on the same day. Here, the President will also launch the ‘Lifestyle for Sustainability’ campaign.
President Murmu will grace the 13th graduation ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar on July 9.
BJP To Discuss 2025 Assembly Polls Strategy Today In Extended Executive Committee Meet, Over 2,000 To Attend
The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party will discuss its strategy for the 2025 Delhi assembly polls at an extended executive committee meet on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.
The meeting will be held at the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium and is expected to be attended by more than 2,000 people, including members of the Delhi BJP, and functionaries from the district and ward levels.
“The focus of the meeting will be on the preparations for the assembly elections due in 2025,” a party worker told PTI, adding that “other issues will also be discussed.”
BJP has not won an assembly poll in Delhi in more than two decades. AAP, however, has won the elections twice in a row with thumping majority, in 2015 and 2020.
