The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Saturday that when states fail to recognise such (terror-related) dangers, whether out of self-interest or indifference, they undermine rather than promote the cause of peace, as per an official statement by the ministry.

The statement was issued in response to media inquiries about comments made by the Foreign Ministers of Germany and Pakistan during a recent joint press conference.

Taking to Twitter, MEA official spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi tweeted the statement, "Our response to media queries on comments regarding Jammu and Kashmir during recent joint press conference of the Foreign Ministers of Germany and Pakistan"

The statement further said that such states also do grave injustice to terrorism victims.

Responding to the queries, MEA spokesperson said, "the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has borne the brunt of such a terrorist campaign for decades. This continues till now. Foreign nationals have been victims there, as also in other parts of India. The UN Security Council and FATF are still pursuing Pakistan-based terrorists involved in the horrific 26/11 attacks."

"All serious and conscientious members of the global community have a role and responsibility to call out international terrorism, especially of a cross-border nature," Bagchi stated.

On Friday, Bagchi made remarks on eastern Ladakh border, days after Chinese envoy Sun Weidong stated that the situation in eastern Ladakh is "overall stable" as a result of the parties’ transition from "emergency response" to "normalised" management following the clashes in the Galwan valley in June 2020.

"We have not reached there…. I would not like to say that the situation is normal. There have been some positive steps, but some steps are yet to be taken," he stated, PTI reported.
