Heavy overnight rain disrupted normal life in Mumbai, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas, flooded subways, slow-moving traffic, and delays to local train services. Roads in Vashi, Andheri, Panvel, and Thane were severely affected, while an orange alert remains in place for the city. Meanwhile, relentless rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across Northeast India. Arunachal Pradesh’s 10 districts are battling severe flooding, with landslides claiming three lives. A bridge collapsed in Lower Siang, cutting off villages, while a massive landslide in Siang swept away a motorcyclist, who was later rescued. In Assam, floods damaged railway infrastructure, submerged NH-515, stranded residents, and disrupted connectivity. Rising water levels have also forced Baglihar and Salal dams in Jammu and Kashmir to release excess water.
