War Update: US-Iran Islamabad Talks Collapse After 21 Hours of Negotiations

The US–Iran high-level talks held in Islamabad have collapsed after nearly 21 hours of continuous negotiations, marking a major diplomatic failure. The discussions, led by JD Vance and attended by delegations from both sides, ended without any agreement, prompting the US team to return home. The talks were aimed at securing a ceasefire framework and resolving long-standing tensions between the United States and Iran. The key issues behind the breakdown included Iran’s uranium enrichment program, demands for lifting sanctions, and strategic control over the Strait of Hormuz. The US insisted on strict limits or complete suspension of Iran’s nuclear activities, while Iran refused to halt its enrichment program or accept external control over its strategic assets. Both sides blamed each other for the failure, with the US claiming Iran rejected its conditions and Iranian sources alleging Washington was not serious about reaching a compromise. The collapse has increased uncertainty over the ceasefire and raised fears of renewed regional tensions. Attention now shifts to possible future diplomatic moves or escalation risks involving both nations.
