Trump’s ‘Powerful Reset’ Post Ahead Of US-Iran Talks Raises Eyebrows

United States President Donald Trump on Friday shared a cryptic message on his Truth Social platform—“World’s most powerful reset”—hours before a key meeting between US and Iranian delegations in Pakistan.

Shortly after US Vice President JD Vance boarded Air Force Two for Islamabad, Trump said US warships were being reloaded with advanced weaponry in case talks fail.

“We have a reset going. We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made — even better than what we did previously and we blew them apart,” Trump said in a telephonic interview with the New York Post.

On the outcome of the talks, he added, “We’re going to find out in about 24 hours. We’re going to know soon.”

“If the talks failed,” he said, the US would be loading ships with “the best weapons ever made and will be using them very effectively”.

“But we’re loading up the ships. We’re loading up the ships with the best weapons ever made, even at a higher level than we use to do a complete decimation,” he said.

Claims On Iran’s Nuclear Position

Trump also claimed that Iran is dismantling its nuclear capabilities, while expressing scepticism over its public stance.

“To our face, they’re getting rid of all nuclear weapons, everything’s gone. And then they go out to the press and say, ‘No, we’d like to enrich.’ So we’ll find out,” he said.

In another post, Trump warned that Iran had limited leverage.

“The Iranians don’t seem to realize they have no cards, other than a short term extortion of the World by using International Waterways. The only reason they are alive today is to negotiate!” he wrote on Truth Social.

Talks In Islamabad

Talks between the United States and Iran aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict are expected to begin on Saturday in Islamabad, with the White House confirming that Vance will lead the US delegation.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier announced a two-week ceasefire and said the talks would take place in Islamabad on April 10. There was no official word on the arrival of the Iranian delegation.

Vance Calls For ‘Good Faith’ Negotiations

Ahead of his departure, Vance said Washington was hopeful of a constructive outcome but cautioned Tehran against acting in bad faith.

“We’re going to try to have a positive negotiation,” Vance told reporters at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington.

Warning Against ‘Playing’ The US

Vance also issued a warning, saying the US would not respond favourably if Iran attempted to undermine the talks.

“If the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we’re certainly willing to extend the open hand. If they’re going to try to play us, then they’re going to find the negotiating team is not that receptive,” he added.
