US President Donald Trump lauded India and Pakistan for agreeing to the ceasefire after both countries were on the brink of a full-scale war following four days of cross-border strikes.

Trump, who was the first one to break the news about the ceasefire, rushed to take the credit for the surprise truce. India has, however, maintained that the agreement was reached by the two countries through direct dialogue.

“I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could lead to the death and destruction of so many, and so much,” Trump said on Truth Social.
