India’s Ministry of External Affairs has summoned Iran’s Deputy Chief of Mission following the death of an Indian sailor in an alleged missile attack near the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report, the incident involved strikes on two UAE-linked oil tankers, during which crew members were affected and one Indian national was killed. Since Iran’s ambassador was reportedly unavailable, India called in the deputy ambassador to convey its concerns. The report says Indian officials raised serious concerns over the safety of maritime personnel, especially Indian sailors working on commercial vessels across the region. The incident reportedly occurred near Oman’s territorial waters, adding to already heightened tensions in West Asia. The report mentions that eight crew members were injured in the attack, including the Indian sailor who later died. India has expressed concern over the security of shipping routes and the safety of its citizens working in the maritime sector amid rising regional instability. The claims regarding responsibility for the attack remain subject to official investigations and confirmation.
