Suella Braverman Fired As UK Home Secy For 2nd Time, Now By Rishi Sunak For Criticising Cops

In a big development, United Kingdon Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has sacked the country’s interior minister Suella Braverman after pressure was mounting on him to remove her from the cabinet following her remark on pro-Palestine marches in the UK, reported The Guardian. According to a BBC report, a controversy erupted after the Home Secretary criticised the Metropolitan Police for its handling of pro-Palestinian protests and accused them of biases in handling the same.

This is the second instance when Braverman has been removed as the Home Secretary. She was dismissed from the cabinet less than over a year ago under the Prime Ministership of Liz Truss for sending confidential information to an MP from a private email address reported The Guardian.

I agree with the Prime Minister. It is entirely unacceptable to desecrate Armistice Day with a hate march through London.
If it goes ahead there is an obvious risk of serious public disorder, violence and damage as well as giving offence to millions of decent British people. 1/2 https://t.co/asRk3IxHOG

Recently, in an opinion piece in The Times, Braverman accused the police force of applying a “double standard” to its policing of protests. She claimed aggressive right-wing protesters were “rightly met with a stern response”, whereas “pro-Palestinian mobs” were “largely ignored”, reported the BBC.

According to an Indian Express report, the Downing Street office, while reacting to the article, said, “It was not agreed by Number 10.” The spokesperson reportedly answered positively when asked if Sunak PM still had confidence in Braverman.

“Rishi Sunak has asked Suella Braverman to leave government and she has accepted,” The Guardian cited a government source as saying. The report further added that some other reshuffles are very likely in Sunak’s team with Thérèse Coffey, the environment secretary, and Steve Barclay, the health secretary, expected to go as well.

Braverman’s article accusing police of bias in containing pro-Israel and pro-Palestine protests was already fuelling the fire, and she went on to term homelessness a “lifestyle choice” making the wind against her stronger.

The British people are compassionate. We will always support those who are genuinely homeless. But we cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice. 1/4 https://t.co/fT1Ou5kD5Q
