Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada, by saying that the acts of violence would never weaken India’s resolve.

PM Modi said he is appalled at the cowardly attempts to intimidate the Indian diplomats and called on the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.

“I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

The prime minister’s condemnation comes after protestors carrying Khalistani flags clashed with people at a Hindu temple in Brampton in Canada. Several videos circulating online showed a mob, wielding sticks and rods, attacking Hindu devotees outside the temple.

Earlier today, the the Ministry of External Affairs condemned the acts of violence by “extremists and separatists” at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton and called the Canadian government to ensure that all the places of worship are protected from such attacks.

In a statement released on Monday, the MEA said, “We condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by extremists and separatists at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario yesterday. We call on the Government of Canada to ensure that all places of worship are protected from such attacks. We also expect that those indulging in violence will be prosecuted. We remain deeply concerned about the safety and security of Indian nationals in Canada.”
