As the Christmas Day approaches, thousands of American faced the heat of severe weather and flight disruptions during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The winter storm has created havoc and brought heavy snow. As a resullt, Boston to Balitimore has blanketed with ice sheets.

The residents of California, who recently faced hurricane-forced winds, flooding and high surf on Monday, are still recovering from the adversities of the storm. This claimed the life of one, while other three got swept way in the Pacific Ocean.

Winter precipitation is expected to hinder the travel plans of those living in the east coast region of the country. While heavy snow falls in the cities like New York and Boston, Washington DC and Baltimore are expected to face ice and precipitation.

Apart from weather, technological issues related to flight disruptions added woes to the passengers. Air travellers experienced a nationwide groundstop of American Airlines on early Tuesday. This was caused due to a vendor technology issue, announced by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  Although groundstop was lifted within an hour, however, this led to flights delays. Some flight faced two-hours delay in  departure.

American Airlines issued an apology, stating, “Our team is working diligently to get customers where they need to go as quickly as possible.” The Airlines took to X (formerly Twitter ) and said, “We have resolved a vendor technology issue that briefly affected flights this morning. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and have issued a travel alert to allow for additional flexibility.”
