Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov will make a working visit to India on November 11 (Monday). He will take part in the plenary session of the Russian-Indian Business Forum in Mumbai, the Russian Embassy said in a statement on Sunday. The event is aimed at expanding cooperation ties between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

The forum will include thematic sessions on current areas of interaction, including industrial cooperation, transport and logistics, finance, digital technologies, and interregional ties. It is organized by the Business Council for Cooperation with India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Denis Manturov and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will hold the 25th Session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in Delhi on November 12. Manturov has a number of bilateral meetings planned as part of his visit, the Embassy said.

PM Modi’s Recent Russia Visits

PM Modi visited Russia twice this year and met Russian President Vladimir Putin. In July, Modi was accorded a guard of honour and received by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov during his visit to Moscow. In a rare gesture, Manturov accompanied the Prime Minister to his hotel in the same car.

During the visit, Putin welcomed PM Modi at his official residence at Novo-Ogaryovo for a “private engagement” during which he praised Modi for the work he has done for the country’s progress.

The Ministry of External Affairs had described the private event as a “meeting of two close friends and trusted partners.”

In October, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Putin in Kazan ahead of the BRICS summit in the city. PM Modi had congratulated Putin on Russia’s successful presidency of BRICS and said many countries want to join the grouping now. He also invited the Russian President to India next year for the 23rd Annual Summit.
