Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Ukraine next month, where he will meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Modi will likely travel to Kyiv on August 23 for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, according to a report by India Today.

Zelensky had reportedly invited PM Modi earlier this year. The two leaders also met nearly a month ago, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Italy, where they were seen sharing a hug. The Ukrainian President also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on the day he secured a third term after the Lok Sabhal elections.

The news of the visit comes days after PM Modi visited Russia. Modi visited Moscow for a two-day visit beginning on July 8, 2024, at the invitation of Putin, for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit.

During his visit, both countries agreed to increase cooperation in various sectors, including nuclear power and shipbuilding. They also discussed ways to solve payment problems as their leaders met in Moscow on Tuesday.

Modi was also conferred with Russia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle award, by Putin for exceptional services in promoting bilateral ties between the two countries.
