Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (July 15) expressed gratitude for the invitation extended to him and affirmed his eagerness to attend the COP-28 Summit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). PM Modi was greeted ceremonially upon his arrival at Qasr Al Watan by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his visit to Abu Dhabi earlier in the day.

“I am thankful for your invitation, and I always look forward to the opportunity to come here. I have decided to attend the COP-28 Summit in the UAE,” PM Modi can be seen saying the same in a video posted by news agency ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also assured the UAE’s COP-28 presidency of India’s full support during productive talks with the UN climate conference’s President-designate Sultan Al Jaber.

Modi arrived in the UAE capital after a successful two-day visit to Paris, where he served as the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day parade and signed several agreements to strengthen bilateral ties with French President Emmanuel Macron.

“PM @narendramod held a productive meeting with Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, President-designate of @COP28_UAE and Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

“Dr. Jaber briefed PM on the forthcoming COP-28. PM assured India’s full support for UAE’s COP-28 presidency. PM also highlighted India’s efforts and initiatives to address climate change,” he added.
