Pakistan Suffers Major Power Outage As Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi Without Electricity For Hours

New Delhi: Major power outage has occurred in Pakistan. Significant parts of Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi are left without power for hours, as reported by the news agency ANI. According to the initial reports, the system frequency of the National Grid went down at 7:34 this morning which led to a widespread breakdown in the power system.

“According to initial reports, the system frequency of the National Grid went down at 7:34 this morning, causing a widespread breakdown in the power system. System maintenance work is progressing rapidly,” news agency ANI quoted the Ministry of Energy, Government of Pakistan.

Parts of the country including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta plunged into darkness as a high-tension electricity supply line between Quetta and Guddu caused a major electricity breakdown, ARY News reported on Monday.

22 districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Islamabad, Lahore, cities in Multan region, Karach and others were hit by a power outage around 7:35 am.

The electricity supply to 117 grid stations has been suspended In Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. The Islamabad Electric Supply Company said they are in contact with the regional control centre. As far as Lahore is concerned, consumers in areas of Mall Road, Kanal Roal,d, and other areas are facing a disruption in power supply. Officials said they are investigating the matter. People from different cities thronged to social media to report the electricity failure.
