The exact cause of Nepal’s devastating disaster remains unclear, with several theories being discussed, including an earthquake, glacier collapse, or a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF). The report suggests that global warming may have contributed to glacier melting, while researchers are still examining whether seismic activity triggered the glacier failure or whether the events were connected in another way. A definitive scientific explanation is yet to emerge. Meanwhile, newly released visuals show the enormous scale of destruction. Floodwaters have receded, but vast fields of mud, sand, rocks and debris remain across affected areas. Homes have been buried, livelihoods destroyed and communities left struggling for basic necessities. Survivors are grateful to have escaped with their lives, but face the difficult challenge of rebuilding. India continues to provide humanitarian assistance, with 10 tonnes of relief material already sent to Nepal and another 37.5 tonnes dispatched. The focus now remains on rescue, relief and helping survivors recover.
