Hickory, NC – March 3, 2024: The Putt-Putt Fun Center in Hickory, NC, is buzzing with excitement as a longstanding record tumbles during the recent two-course best ball tournament held on February 10, 2024.

In a thrilling two-round, 36-hole event, Richard Miller of Hudson, NC, and teammate Bryan Deal of Valdese, NC, etched their names in history by achieving the lowest two-course score ever recorded at the location. The duo’s stellar performance resulted in a remarkable score of 44, surpassing the previous record of 46 set years ago by Dwight and Ann Hall of Vale, NC.

Best ball, a favored format at the center, allows any two individuals to team up and compete, with the lowest scores determining the victors. The event unfolded on the exact courses, course four and course one, where the previous record had been established years ago. Notably, these courses are set to receive upgrades in the upcoming season.

As Miller and Deal entered the tournament with a goal of maintaining consistency, unforeseen challenges tested their skills during the first round on course four, concluding with a score of 24. The turning point occurred in the final round on course one, where the duo missed only two holes. Displaying exceptional skill and teamwork, they hit fifteen consecutive hole-in-ones, concluding the round with an astounding score of twenty.

Their total score of 44 secured them a first-place victory, solidifying their names in the record books. This achievement adds another chapter to the rich history of the Hickory Putt-Putt Fun Center, a local landmark that has been welcoming enthusiasts for over 50 years.

In a previous highlight in January 2024, Bryan Deal, along with his eleven-year-old great nephew Kaiden Whaling, broke the all-time single-round tournament record with a remarkable score of 19 on course one. Whaling, incidentally, is the grandson of Richard Miller, adding a family connection to the center’s success stories.

For those eager to partake in the excitement, the Hickory Putt-Putt Fun Center invites the public to its putting tournaments and other events. More information can be found on the company’s website: https://puttputt.com/hickory-nc.
