Houston, Jun 27 (PTI): L&T Technology Services (LTTS), a global engineering and technology services company, has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art engineering design centre in Plano, Texas, in a move to expand its US presence and advancing India–US collaboration in high-tech manufacturing.

The ITAR-compliant facility is equipped to design, develop, and test defence-related technologies and cybersecurity systems. It also houses a unit to support smart city infrastructure. Starting with 100 engineers, the centre is expected to generate over 350 high-skilled jobs across sectors such as mobility, aerospace, AI, and digital manufacturing.

The inauguration ceremony Thursday was attended by Plano Mayor John B Muns, Caterpillar Vice President Tim Graham, Consul General of India in Houston D C Manjunath, LTTS President & Executive Director, Mobility & Tech, Alind Saxena, and Chief Delivery Officer (Americas) Bhanu Gopalam.

“This centre represents innovation at its finest and marks an important step forward for our region,” said Muns. “LTTS is not just creating opportunities; they are helping shape the future of advanced technology development and smart manufacturing.” US Senator Ted Cruz welcomed the development, calling it “a testament to your unwavering commitment to excellence, ingenuity, and the future of the Lone Star State.” Congressman Pat Fallon said the centre would “fuel growth in smart manufacturing and digital transformation” with the creation of more than 350 engineering jobs.

At the event, LTTS engineers demonstrated a suite of next-generation technologies, including the Factory of the Futurefor Industry 4.0-based digital manufacturing, TrackEI™ for real-time rail inspection, the LTTS iDriVe platform featuring advanced driver-assist and mobility solutions, the Fusion AI Platform for real-time analytics in smart cities and industrial systems, and Software Defined Imaging, an AI-powered medical imaging solution built on NVIDIA’s Jetson™ platform.

“This centre is more than just an engineering hub — it’s a symbol of our promise to bring innovation closer to our clients,” Saxena said. “Plano is now a critical pillar in our global delivery model.” On the sidelines of the inauguration, Consul General Manjunath held a meeting with Mayor Muns at Plano City Hall. The discussions focused on strengthening the partnership between India and the City of Plano, with emphasis on trade, investment, technology collaboration, and deeper people-to-people ties.

Several Indian IT and engineering companies — including TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and LTTS — have established a significant presence in North Texas, contributing to local economic development and job creation. “We’re not just building solutions,” said Bhanu Gopalam of LTTS.

“We’re building the future of engineering, right here in Texas.” The design centre further strengthens the footprint of Indian industry in the US and reflects the growing bilateral engagement between India and the United States in advanced technology, innovation, and shared economic growth.
