Liam Payne: Friend Among 5 Charged In Connection With One Direction Singer’s Death

Five people have been charged in connection with the death of, Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, Argentine officials confirmed on Monday.

The 31-year-old British singer fell to his death from the balcony of the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires on 16 October. As per the deatails, while three people have been charged with manslaughter, two others are charged with drug supply. Liam Payne was allegedly seen being dragged to his room while unconscious moments before he fell from his balcony in Argentina earlier this year.

Those who were charged includes friend of Payne, Roger Nores. Nores is being accused of negligent homicide. He is claimed to left Payne at the hotel in Buenos Aires at least 40 minutes before the singer fell to his death. Nores, who was also the Payne’s representative during his stay in Argentina, had been accused of abandoning Payne to his fate, even after knowing that his friend was incapable of caring for himself. Nores was having the full knowledge of Payne’s state of intoxication, vulnerability and helplessness in which the singer was found himself.

Hotel manager Gilda Martín, where Payne was staying,  and Esteban Grassi, the head of reception, have been charged with manslaughter, as per the reports. As per the charges put on Martín, Martín was present in the hotel lobby, prior to Payne’s death. It is also stated that she noticed the singer was unable to stand due to the consumption of various substances. Grassi has been accused to be the head of a group of three people who dragged the singer to his room moments before his death.

Braian Paiz, a waiter at a restaurant in Puerto Madero who admitted to using drugs, has been charged with supplying narcotics for payment. Ezequiel Pereyra, CasaSur employee, has been charged with supplying drugs.

Earlier, Payne had spoken about his struggles with substance abuse and his mental health. As per the Argentine prosecutors, Payne had alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant in his system before his death.
