Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has revealed she is in remission from cancer. She shared her cancer journey after an emotional visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London, where she previously received treatment for her condition. This marks the first public confirmation of her recovery, nearly a year after her diagnosis was announced in March 2024.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Princess of Wales Catherine expressed her “relief” and gratitude, writing: “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery.”

Thanking people for their “continued support”, she said: “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to.”

Catherine signed the post simply as “C”.

She turned 43 on January 9.

‘Couldn’t Have Asked For More’

During her visit to the Royal Marsden, a leading cancer treatment and research centre where she is now a joint royal patron alongside Prince William, Catherine thanked staff for their exceptional care and shared her personal insights with patients undergoing treatment. As quoted in a BBC report, she said while speaking to one woman receiving chemotherapy: “It’s really tough… It’s such a shock… Everyone said to me, ‘please keep a positive mindset, it makes such a difference’.”

According to the report, Catherine also highlighted the long-term challenges of recovery, noting: “You think the treatment has finished and you can crack on and get back to normal, but that’s still a real challenge.” She described experiencing lingering side effects and acknowledged the ongoing journey toward recovery.

The princess embraced a woman whose 19-year-old daughter is in intensive care, offering words of comfort: “I’m sorry. I wish there was more I could do to help. I wanted to come and show my support for the amazing work that’s going on here…”

Catherine first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, followed by an update in September that she had completed chemotherapy. Her social media post expressed gratitude to the hospital staff and to those who supported her and Prince William during her treatment. “We couldn’t have asked for more,” she wrote. “The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

Her visit to the Royal Marsden marked her most significant solo royal engagement since completing treatment. The Royal Marsden, founded in 1851, was previously under the patronage of Diana, Princess of Wales. It treats 59,000 patients annually, according to the BBC report.
