Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has been injured in a car accident after returning from the scene of a stabbing near Tel Aviv.

Visuals showed that Ben-Gvir’s car flipped near a red light intersection when another car hit his vehicle in the city of Ramle.

As per a report in BBC, the Israeli minister was slightly injured and was taken the the hospital following a car accident. “Minister Ben-Gvir feels good, is conscious, and will continue to receive medical treatment at Assaf HaRofeh Hospital,” his office told The Jerusalem Post.

Two other people including the minister’s daughter were also injured in the accident while the police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Ben-Gvir was reportedly returning from a scene of a stabbing in Ramle. As per the Israeli police, a 19-year-old woman was injured after a 21-year-old man who reportedly had mental health issues stabbed her. Central District Police Chief Avi Biton said the suspect, who tried to flee the crime scene, was shot and “neutralized” by a civilian.

Ben-Gvir is a controversial member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. He was recently in news for calling for a full-scale military response by Israel against Iran after Tehran’s attack on Israel following an Israeli attack in the Iranian consulate in Syria.

In the past, he has advocated for the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza and supported calls for the re-establishment of Jewish settlements there.
