Days after warning 18 US firms in the Gulf region of potential attacks, Iran has claimed it targeted an Amazon building in Bahrain on Thursday. According to state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a targeted strike on an Amazon AWS facility in the neighbouring country.

The IRGC stated that the attack was part of the third phase of the 90th wave of “Operation True Promise 4”.

State Media Confirms Incident

Iran’s Mehr news agency also confirmed the strike on the cloud computing centre in Bahrain.

Bahrain Reports Fire At Facility

Earlier in the day, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said civil defence teams were working to extinguish a fire at a company facility following what authorities described as an Iranian attack, the Financial Times reported.

Attack Follows Warning To US Firms

The incident comes two days after Iran warned it would target American firms operating in the Gulf region that are not affiliated with the US military.

Citing concerns over the use of artificial intelligence in warfare and espionage, the IRGC had listed 18 companies as potential targets, including Amazon, Microsoft and Apple.
