Iran has reportedly conveyed three conditions for ending the conflict with the United States through Pakistan and Qatar, according to Iranian officials. Security official Mohsen Rezaei said Tehran wants the war to end on all fronts, frozen Iranian funds held abroad to be released, and the US blockade of Iranian ports to be lifted. Iran also wants broader regional conflicts, including tensions involving Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, to end. Pakistan is again emerging as a potential channel between Tehran and Washington, with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visiting Tehran during this period. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that lasting security in the Middle East cannot be determined by countries outside the region. The report also highlights conflicting claims over Iran’s oil exports. Iranian state institutions reportedly claim that oil sales reached a two-year high in September despite the blockade. In contrast, the US Defense Department says American forces helped facilitate the movement of more than one billion barrels of crude oil, assisted over 2,000 commercial vessels and kept key Hormuz shipping lanes clear of mines. The competing claims underscore the link between the conflict, oil trade and diplomacy.
