Hyderabad Student In US Fails To Halt At Stop Sign, Dies After Crashing Into Truck

A 28-year-old Indian student, Mohammed Wajid, lost his life in a road accident in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA, on Tuesday (January 28). The mishap took place when Wajid failed to stop at a posted stop sign at an intersection, resulting in a collision with a truck hauling grain, reported NDTV. 

A native of Khairatabad, Hyderabad, Wajid was an active member of the NRI Minority Congress Committee in the USA, as per a report on The Hindustan Times. He had pursued his master’s degree in Chicago before settling in Massachusetts.

Taking to X, Telangana Congress Secretary Mohammed Shahabuddin said, “Today is a sad day for me and our entire Congress family. We’ve lost a dear friend and colleague, Mohammed Wajid, in a tragic accident in Chicago, USA. Wajid was an active leader of the Youth Congress in Khairatabad Division and a member of the NRI Minority Congress Committee in the USA. His passion, energy, and dedication to our organization will be deeply missed. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May Allah grant him forgiveness and the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.”

He also expressed his condolences to the kin of Wajid.

His sudden demise has left his family and friends in deep shock. Efforts are reportedly being made to repatriate his mortal remains to Hyderabad. The local community and NRI organizations are assisting in the process.

Meanwhile, the truck driver escaped unhurt in the accident.
