After severe rain and thunderstorms pounded portions of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai roadways became saturated and flooded. Residents were warned to avoid beaches and remain indoors during the deluge, while transportation and aircraft operations were also disrupted. People in Dubai took to social media to post videos of the heavy rain.

As the UAE received heavy rainfall on Friday morning, Dubai Police warned motorists to take the necessary precautions if their vehicles  were damaged as a result of the rain.

Police highlighted the necessity of photographing or videotaping any damage before going to the local police station to make a full report in order to claim insurance. The advisory follows heavy rains and thunderstorms that have impacted portions of the UAE.

Motorists are asked to adhere to Dubai Police’s thorough safety guidelines, which include slowing down, keeping a safe distance from the road’s edge, using low-beam headlights for improved visibility, and ensuring windscreens and brakes are in good working order.

The prognosis for the next several days calls for partly overcast sky with the possibility of further rain.

Weather in the United Arab Emirates has caused certain flight disruptions at Dubai’s major airport, according to a representative for operator Dubai Airports on Friday. “As of 10am UAE time (0600 GMT), 13 inbound flights were diverted to neighbouring airports while six outbound flights were cancelled,” the spokesperson was quoted by Reuters in its report.

He further stated: “Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines, control authorities and other service partners at DXB to minimise any inconvenience to our customers.”

DXB is a major worldwide transportation hub and one of the world’s busiest airports.

Heavy rain early Friday disrupted transport around the emirate, but the Dubai Airshow, a major industry event taking place this week, was set to go ahead as planned on the last day.
