The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) pressed formal charges against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday in a case filed over crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising.

The complaint was submitted to the tribunal by Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam and the proceedings are being broadcast live by the national broadcaster Bangladesh Television (BTV), reported the Daily Star.

On May 12, the report against the deposed prime minister was submitted by the investigation agency of the tribunal invoking five allegations of crimes against humanity during the July uprising.

Along with Hasina, Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun have been named co-accused in the report.

The ousted PM is already facing two other cases filed with the ICT. The first one over alleged involvement in enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings during the Awami League rule, and the other over killings during the 2013 Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel.
