Europe is witnessing growing public unrest as protests spread across France, Italy, Portugal and Belgium, with demonstrators taking to the streets over rising inflation, economic pressures and other political grievances. In Albania, protesters are demanding the prime minister’s resignation, with demonstrations reportedly turning violent. Images from several European cities show clashes, stone-pelting, arson and confrontations between protesters and police, raising concerns about public order and putting governments under increasing pressure. Milan, Italy’s financial capital and a global fashion destination, has also witnessed unrest. During a rally against rising living costs and wars, masked individuals reportedly engaged in violence, set fires and looted shops around the famous Piazza del Duomo and the luxury shopping arcade. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowds. Reports cited in the footage say two police officers were seriously injured and more than 50 demonstrators were detained, including several minors. Meanwhile, Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, has also seen people taking to the streets to express anger against the government. France and Belgium are among the other countries facing demonstrations as public frustration over economic conditions and government policies continues to grow. The protests highlight the challenges facing European governments as they attempt to address the concerns of citizens amid rising living costs and wider geopolitical tensions.
