Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence of the US, spoke up on a range of subjects, including India-US ties, influence from Lord Krishna’s teachings and the Indian cuisine.

Gabbard, who is in India for an official trip, said Lord Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna have been a source of strength and guidance for her.

“Whether serving in war zones in different parts of the world or the challenges that we face now, it is (Lord) Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita that I turn to in the best of times and the worst of times,” she said in an interview with ANI. Gabbard, the first Hindu elected to the US Congress, has often talked about her deep connection with the Bhagavad Gita.

The US National Intelligence Director said she feels at home when she is in India and the people are always welcoming.

“I love so much about India. I always feel at home when I am here. The people are so welcoming and kind and then food is always delicious,” Gabbard said.

Speaking on her favourite Indian food, she said, “Dal Makhani and anything with fresh paneer is delicious.”

Gabbard also emphasised the importance of direct dialogue between India and the United States on tariff issues. She arrived in the Delhi early Sunday and is on a two-and-a-half-day trip to India.

Earlier in the day, the US Director of National Intelligence held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
