Trump revealed that a 48-hour deadline had already been given, and with only 24 hours remaining, he warned of severe consequences if Iran fails to act. Over the past weeks, Trump’s statements on Hormuz have shifted repeatedly—ranging from threats of destruction of Iran’s energy infrastructure to claims of easily reopening the strait, and even suggesting willingness to end the war without it. In response, Iran’s powerful military wing, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), rejected any temporary ceasefire proposal and demanded a permanent end to the war.
