PM Modi To Inaugurate 2 Coal India Projects Worth Rs 1200 Cr on Friday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate on Friday two Coal India projects worth around Rs 1,200 crore in Jharkhand for the dispatch of dry fuel, an official statement said.

The Ministry of Coal said that the Tori-Shivpur third Rail Line located in Chatra and Latehar districts of the state is of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), which is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL).

“This dedicated coal corridor, stretching over 44.37 km with six intermediate stations, is designed to facilitate the evacuation of 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of coal from ongoing and upcoming mining projects. With a capital outlay of Rs 894 crore, this project not only serves existing coal mines but also enhances the evacuation capacity from upcoming commercial blocks,” it said. Currently, the coal evacuation from North Karanpura coalfields of CCL stands at around 45 MTPA, according to the ministry.

PM To Dedicate NTPC’s Karanpura Project Unit To Nation On Friday 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate to the nation 660 MW unit-1 of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (NKSTPP) of NTPC on Friday. The project has been established with an investment of Rs 7,526 crore.

Located at Chatra district of Jharkhand, the total envisaged capacity of NKSTPP is 1980 MW (3X660 MW), NTPC said in a statement. This pit-head project will supply majority of the generated power to Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal, thereby ensuring 24×7 availability of power at affordable cost in eastern part of the country.

While the project is creating direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region, various community development initiatives are being taken up by NTPC in education, drinking water, sanitation, health and women empowerment.
