Waltz is a staunch Trump advocate who backed the efforts to over the 2020 election results. He has repeated Trump’s frequent complaints about a “woke” military that the former president referred to as soft and too focused on diversity and equity programs.
The veteran is considered to be ‘hawkish’ on China and called for a US boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing due to its involvement in the origin of COVID-19 and its ongoing mistreatment of the minority Muslim Uyghur population. He also criticised the chaotic withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan and called the country accountable for the death of 13 soldiers at Abbey Gate.
