Albanese, Trudeau, Zelenskyy Join World Leaders In Wishing PM Modi On Lok Sabha Victory

Several world leaders on Thursday continued congratulating Narendra Modi for the victory of the BJP-led NDA coalition in the Lok Sabha elections and for securing a third term as the prime minister. 

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called PM Narendra Modi and said it was great to speak with the Indian prime minister and congratulated him on his election victory. PM Modi also thanked the Australian PM for his wishes.

“Great to speak with @narendramodi today to congratulate him on his election victory. Australia and India are close friends, with strong strategic, economic and cultural ties. We look forward to growing our partnership in 2024 and beyond,” Anthony Albanese said in a post on X. 

PM Modi warmly recalled his visit to Australia in 2023 and his meeting with PM Albanese on the sidelines of the G20 Summit last September in Delhi, a government statement said.

“Prime Minister reiterated his firm commitment to work together with the Australian Prime Minister to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and work closely on the shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific region,” the statement added.

Philippines President Bongbong Marcos also congratulated PM Modi for securing a fresh mandate. 

“The last decade has shown India as a sincere friend to the Philippines & I look forward to the further strengthening of our bilateral and regional partnership in the years ahead,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “I spoke with PM Narendra Modi to congratulate him on his election victory. I wished him a speedy formation of the government and continued productive work for the benefit of the Indian people. We discussed the upcoming Global Peace Summit. We rely on India’s participation at the highest level. I also invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Ukraine at a convenient time.”

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva wished Modi a very successful third term in promoting sustainable development, combating inequalities and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Others like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Iceland Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson and Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid were among those who wished PM Modi.

Earlier US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, UK PM Rishi Sunak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed wished PM Modi on securing third term on the top post.
