  • Wife, two children also strangled following initial confrontation.

Two men have been detained in Bangladesh’s Rangpur city after a retired Hindu school teacher, his wife and their two children were killed at their residence, according to a media report. Police identified the suspects as Mughdho and Siddhartha, who are cousins, and said they were allegedly involved in the deaths of the four family members. The bodies were recovered from the family’s locked home on Friday night.

Two Cousins Detained

Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud said the two suspects entered the rooftop of the Chakraborty family’s house through an adjoining building on Thursday night.

According to the police, the men took the drug yaba on the rooftop. Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, reportedly went upstairs after hearing noises and questioned them about why they were there.

Police alleged that the suspects then strangled him with a gamchha, a thin cotton towel he had been carrying on his shoulder, in an attempt to prevent him from raising the alarm.

His wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, 50, reportedly went upstairs after hearing the commotion. Police said she was allegedly strangled with a piece of cloth on the staircase.

The deceased have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty, Pritilata Chakraborty, Agami Chakraborty Prarthi and Priyam Chakraborty.
