Bengal Guv To Meet TMC Delegation In Darjeeling On Saturday

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has consented to meet a group of Trinamool Congress leaders at Darjeeling’s Gubernatorial Mansion at 5.30pm on Saturday, according to Raj Bhavan sources, after receiving a message from TMC leader Derek O’Brien.

The governor’s decision to meet with the delegation follows a TMC sit-in outside Kolkata’s Raj Bhavan headed by the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee demanding the Centre release West Bengal’s MGNREGA dues and an audience with Bose.

“With reference to your mail of October 6, I am directed to inform you that the Governor would be pleased to meet you and other members of the delegation at 05.30 pm at Raj Bhavan, Darjeeling, on October 7. You are requested to kindly send a list of the delegation along with their names who would be meeting the governor,” said a letter sent by the governor’s deputy secretary.

Earlier in the day, Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien wrote to the governor, demanding a meeting.

Uttarakhand Colleges To Celebrate October 7 As ‘Garh Bhoj Diwas’

Every year on October 7, universities and colleges across Uttarakhand will celebrate ‘Garh Bhoj Diwas’ to honour the hill state’s traditional foods and crops, which are high in nutritional and therapeutic value. “It will familiarise our younger generation, who are growing up on an overload of junk food, with the nutritional value of our traditional foods as well as their rich taste,” Dwarika Prasad Semwal, a social activist who has spearheaded a project to popularise the state’s traditional foods, told PTI on Friday.

He stated that Uttarakhand Health and Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat has asked the vice-chancellors of the universities and the heads of various institutions to commemorate October 7 as ‘Garh Bhoj Diwas’.
