Violent protests and political tensions are drawing attention across Europe, with unrest reported in Albania and France. In Albania’s capital, Tirana, demonstrations against Prime Minister Edi Rama have reportedly escalated into clashes between protesters and police. Student groups are at the forefront of the movement, demanding improvements in the education system and measures to tackle rising living costs. The protests have also intensified amid corruption allegations against Rama, including claims that his government favoured Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump. Demonstrators are demanding the prime minister’s resignation, while some protesters have reportedly targeted government buildings, set fires and thrown firework-like projectiles at security forces. Police have responded with water cannons and tear gas in an attempt to disperse crowds and restore order. The situation in Tirana remains tense, with efforts to contain the unrest facing challenges. Meanwhile, France has witnessed renewed demonstrations in Paris and several other cities, despite reported restrictions and curfews in some areas. Protesters have taken to the streets over concerns about education and the rising cost of living, with clashes reported between demonstrators and police. According to figures cited by France’s Interior Ministry in the report, approximately 410,000 people participated in demonstrations nationwide, including around 110,000 in Paris. Although organisers had called for peaceful marches, some gatherings reportedly turned violent, prompting security forces to intervene. The renewed unrest has put pressure on French authorities as they attempt to control the situation.
