Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with the family of Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar, who was seriously injured during the cockpit attack on Flight FZ1073. Government sources said Modi spoke with Machchhar’s wife and parents, praised his bravery and assured the family that Indian diplomatic missions would provide all possible assistance and support. Machchhar is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where the Indian Embassy has been monitoring his condition and staying in contact with his family. He has been reported to be in stable condition. The captain was injured after his Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked him during the Dubai–Tel Aviv flight, which was subsequently diverted to Saudi Arabia for an emergency landing.
