Amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, concerns over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz have intensified, as the route is crucial for nearly 20% of global oil supply. Reports suggest that shipping movement in the region has been heavily impacted due to the ongoing conflict situation. Despite the heightened risks, an Indian-flagged oil tanker named Nissos Keros has successfully navigated through the Strait of Hormuz and is now heading towards Visakhapatnam, India. The safe passage is being seen as a significant development amid growing uncertainty in the region. According to available information, around 11 Indian-flagged vessels are still present in the Persian Gulf region, while 14 ships have already managed to cross the Strait safely and return towards India. The situation highlights both the strategic importance and the vulnerability of global energy supply routes during geopolitical tensions.
