Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the evolving situation in West Asia and the urgent need for a return to dialogue and diplomacy.
Following the telephonic conversation, Modi said both leaders agreed to remain closely engaged and coordinate efforts towards restoring peace and stability in the region at the earliest.

“Spoke with my friend President Emmanuel Macron today. We discussed our shared concerns over the evolving situation in West Asia and the need for a return to dialogue and diplomacy.
“We will continue to engage closely and coordinate efforts towards the early restoration of peace and stability in the region,” Modi said in a post on X.
Conflict Background
The conflict in West Asia began after the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran on February 28, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Following the offensive, Iran carried out a series of attacks targeting Israeli and American military bases across several Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

In recent days, the situation has escalated significantly, with both sides engaging in repeated attacks and counter-attacks, widening the scope of the conflict.
