Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Malaysia entered its second day on Sunday, with high-level bilateral talks scheduled between PM Modi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The discussions are expected to focus on reviewing progress made under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Malaysia and charting a roadmap for deeper cooperation across multiple sectors. According to diplomatic sources, both leaders will explore opportunities to strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, defence, semiconductors, renewable energy, digital technology, and education. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding are likely to be signed, reflecting the growing economic and strategic alignment between the two nations. During the delegation-level talks, India is also expected to reiterate its long-standing request for the extradition of fugitive preacher Zakir Naik, who has been residing in Malaysia. The matter remains a key concern for New Delhi and is likely to be raised formally. On Saturday, PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in Malaysia, highlighting India’s expanding global economic footprint. He emphasized India’s recent trade agreements with regions including the European Union and the United States, underscoring that India’s strongest currency today is global trust and confidence.
