U.S. President Donald Trump launched a blistering verbal offensive against New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani after early projections indicated Mamdani’s victory in the Democratic primary. In a sharply worded statement, Trump labelled Mamdani as a “100 percent communist lunatic,” alleging that the Democratic Party had gone too far by backing his candidacy.

In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald J Trump said, “It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous. He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!”

Who Is Zohran Mamdani?

Zohran Mamdani stunned the political establishment with a decisive victory over former Governor Andrew Cuomo, on Tuesday. His sweeping win cements his position as the Democratic nominee in the race for New York City mayor. If elected in November’s general election, Mamdani, a 33-year-old Muslim of South Asian heritage, would become the first Muslim and Indian-origin mayor in the city’s history, reported Aljazeera.

He is the son of prominent academic Mahmood Mamdani and acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair.

Nair, born on October 15, 1957, in Rourkela, Odisha (formerly Orissa), was raised in Bhubaneswar with her two elder brothers. Her father, Amrit Lal Singh Nair, was a member of the Indian Administrative Service, while her mother, Praveen Nair, worked as a social worker. Though brought up in Odisha, Nair’s family has Punjabi roots and ancestral ties to Delhi.
