Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday conducted a detailed inspection at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, ahead of the arrival of global delegates participating in the 72nd Miss World pageant.

With participants from over 140 countries set to arrive on May 6 and 7, the Minister directed officials to create a visually captivating and culturally rich welcome experience. Emphasising Telangana’s heritage, he called for the airport’s arrival areas to be adorned with traditional floral decorations and toranas made of mango and banana leaves.

“The airport must serve as a vibrant gateway to Telangana’s identity, showcasing our traditions and cultural pride,” he remarked.

Officials from the Department of Tourism, GMR Passenger Experience, Customs, Immigration, and the CISF accompanied the Minister as he evaluated logistics and reception arrangements. He instructed agencies to ensure smooth immigration and customs clearance and to deploy additional personnel to assist the arriving contestants and delegates.

During his visit, Minister Jupally personally greeted Miss India Nandini Gupta and Miss Mexico Marlé Lél Cervantes, welcoming them to Telangana and encouraging them to experience the state’s rich historical and cultural landscape. He extended his best wishes for their journey in the pageant.
