Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Kash Patel lauded the arrest of terrorist Harpreet Singh who was apprehended by the American agency in the United States.

Patel assured that the accused, wanted in India for multiple terror attacks in Punjab will be brought to justice. The FBI boss said that the agency’s Sacramento division coordinated the investigation with Indian authorities.

“CAPTURED: HARPREET SINGH, part of an alleged foreign terrorist gang here illegally in the United States, who we believe was involved in planning multiple attacks on police stations both in India and the United States,” Patel said in a post on X.

“Excellent work from all, and justice will be done. The FBI will continue finding those who perpetrate violence — no matter where they are,” he added.

Harpreet Singh’s Arrest

Harpreet Singh was arrested by the FBI and US immigration officials on Thursday in Sacramento, California. Singh, also known as Happy Passia and Jora had lived in the United Kingdom before crossing into the US illegally from Mexico in 2021. He hails from Passia village in Punjab’s Amritsar district.

Singh is wanted in 17 criminal cases, according to the police, including changes under India’s anti-terror and drug laws. Of the 17 cases against him, 12 were booked between November 2022 and April 2024.

On March 23, the National Investigation Agency submitted a chargesheet against four operatives of the proscribed terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International in connection with the grenade attack in Chandigarh last year.

Happy Passia was among those named in the chargesheet along with Harwinder Singh Sandhu, also known as Rinda, a Pakistan-based terrorist. Passia was in the US when the chargesheet was filed.
