Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Droupadi Murmu exchanged congratulatory messages on Tuesday to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Xi highlighted the significance of the relationship, noting that China and India—both ancient civilisations and major developing nations—are at a crucial stage of their respective modernisation efforts.

According to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, he emphasised that strengthening ties between the two countries serves their fundamental interests and described the partnership as the “Dragon-Elephant Tango.”

Xi urged both sides to approach bilateral relations with a strategic and long-term perspective, advocating peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, and common development. “Both countries should work together to promote a multi-polar world and greater democracy in international relations,” he said.

Xi also expressed his willingness to collaborate with Murmu to deepen strategic mutual trust, enhance cooperation across various sectors, and ensure peace and stability in the border region. “We should take this anniversary as an opportunity to push forward the sound and steady development of bilateral relations and contribute to world peace and prosperity,” he added.
