Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Monday met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing where he said India is willing to work with China to jointly celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and will fully support China in its role as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Misri said the two countries have engaged in a series of beneficial dialogues and communications, properly managed and resolved differences, and promoted the resumption of practical cooperation in various fields. Misri’s Beijing visit is the second such high-profile visit from India to China in less than one-and-a-half months.

Wang Yi called on China and India to explore more substantial measures to promote mutual understanding and support.
“The two countries should refrain from mutual suspicion, mutual estrangement, and mutual exhaustion,” Wang Yi was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Wang is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said the improvement and development of China-India relations fully align with the fundamental interests of both countries and their people and are conducive to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South countries.
It also helps to contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in Asia and the world, he added.
Misri Visits China Ahead Of Chinese New Year
The visit of Misri, who was also the former Ambassador to China, is taking place ahead of the celebrations of China’s Spring Festival and the Chinese New Year, beginning on January 29, during which the country will officially shut down for a week.
The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said that Foreign Secretary Misri will be visiting Beijing on January 26 and 27 “for a meeting of the Foreign Secretary-Vice Minister mechanism between India and China”.
