An Indian-origin doctor from Andhra Pradesh was shot dead on Friday in Tuscaloosa city of Alabama in the United States, multiple reports said.
Dr Ramesh Peramsetty, a prominent physician who managed several hospitals across the country, died at the spot. However, the details of the incident were not immediately made public after the incident.
Originally from Tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh, Dr Ramesh was the founder and medical director of the Crimson Care Network, a group of local medical professionals. He was well-regarded for his contributions to healthcare and practiced as a physician in Tuscaloosa.

“As many are aware at this moment, we have been informed of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing. The Peramsetty family ask for us to give them privacy as they grieve his passing. They have received abundant out pouring of love and faith. We will continue to honor him as he would want us to do. Thank you for your understanding,” the Crimson Care Network Team said in a post on Facebook.
The Crimson Care Network stated that its team “is prepared to make more statements within the next few days.”

According to his WebMD profile, Peramsetty graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986 and had 38 years of medical experience. He specialised in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine and practiced in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as well as 4 other locations. He was also affiliated with the Regional Medical Center and held a Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
Local reports highlight that a street in Tuscaloosa was named in his honour due to his key role in the medical field. Dr Peramsetty also played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, for which he received various awards. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all of whom are settled in the U.S.
