Following the weather department’s predictions of more rain and storms today, over 500 flights, both inbound and outbound, have been diverted, delayed, or cancelled, as per a report by NDTV. Among the flights witnessing disruptions, authorities have cancelled 15 flights bound for Dubai, and 13 flights to India have also been cancelled.

The rainfall and storm extended to the UAE and Bahrain after lashing Oman, where around 20 people were killed, including several children, as reported by Forbes. The death toll included an infant and 12 schoolchildren whose school bus was swept away due to the floods.

Dubai Rain: Here Are Top Points

  1. According to Meteorological Department reports, Dubai witnessed approximately 20 millimetres (0.79 inches) of rain late Monday, along with the storm intensifying around 9 AM on Tuesday, as reported by the Times of India.
  2. Besides the halt in-flight services, the heavy rainfall left cars stranded on flooded roads.
  3. Speaking on disruptions in flight services, a Dubai Airports spokesperson said. “Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. We are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions,” as quoted by NDTV.
  4. According to Dubai’s flagship Emirates Airline, a halt in all check-ins for passengers in Dubai has caused travel chaos.
  5. The storm has left its impact beyond Dubai, as the entire UAE and neighbouring Bahrain experienced similar chaos.
