After fans on Twitter feared that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, is gone “missing”, Kensington Palace has to provide a health update that Middleton is progressing well in her recovery following recent abdominal surgery. The speculations rifed after her husband, Prince William, decided to withdraw from an upcoming engagement on Tuesday. The Palace provided a brief health update to reassure supporters of the Princess of Wales.

According to reports from the AP via ABC News, the representatives of the royal family have confirmed that Princess Kate is on track in her recuperation from abdominal surgery.

This update follows concerns posted by some online users who speculated about the princess’s whereabouts after her surgery on January 16.

A New York Post report said that Prince William had to decline to attend a memorial service honouring his godfather, King Constantine of Greece, on Tuesday, citing a personal matter.

While the palace has not explicitly linked William’s absence to Kate’s recovery, a source from the palace informed PEOPLE (an online magazine) that Kate “continues to be doing well”.

The report further said that after spending 10-14 days in the hospital, Kate had returned home to recuperate with her family. The Palace previously stated that she would likely resume royal duties after the Easter holiday. Highlighting Kate’s desire for privacy, the Palace stated they would only address “significant new information” in the coming weeks, it said.

Amidst growing concerns expressed on social media, the Palace released the health update along with confirmation of William’s canceled appearance. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) had questioned Kate’s absence, accusing the royal family of a “coverup”.  However, the Palace officials assert there is no cause for alarm.

Earlier this month, William attended the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards without Middleton. Despite his solo appearance, body language expert Darren Stanton noted William’s confidence and engagement with the public at the event. Stanton reported that William appeared relaxed and broke royal protocol by actively interacting with attendees, indicating a positive emotional state.
