On Monday, teachers at Jadavpur University will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the death of an undergraduate student as a result of ragging.  Three people have been arrested, including two JU students and a former student, for their alleged involvement in the ragging of the 17-year-old, who died on August 10 after falling from the balcony of the boys’ main hostel.

Police have taken note of JU students’ social media posts, including photographs, that suggest sexual harassment was involved in the deceased’s ragging.

“The boarders definitely tormented him.” Passive sexual harassment is possible. “We’re looking into it,” a senior police officer told news agency PTI.
