New Delhi: India on Monday called upon Pakistan to end its “discriminatory” approach towards its minorities and ensure their safety. Indian diplomat Pawan Badhe urged Pakistan to stop targeting legitimate political activities in Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while he was speaking at the United Nations.

“India recommends Pakistan to end systemic persecution of minorities, misuse of blasphemy laws & forced convergence of minority community girls. Stop targeting political dissidents and legitimate political activities in Sindh, Balochistan and Khabar Pakhtunkhwa,” said Pawan Badhe.

Pawan Badhe further said, “People in regions such as Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have continued to suffer political repression, persecution and denial of their rights.”

India also called upon Pakistan to take credible, verifiable, irreversible and sustained action against terrorism emanating from territories under its control.

“Take credible, verifiable, irreversible and sustained action against terrorism emanating from territories under its control,” said Badhe.

Meanwhile, a member of the Sikh community received death threats from locals in the Sindh province in yet another instance of an attack on minorities in Pakistan’s neighboring country. The incident took place in Sindh’s Jacobabad city. Harish Singh was allegedly heckled and abused by Muslim community members.

The incident occurred as Singh was returning from picking up his daughters from school. The threats to kill him also came from his daughters. According to Harish Singh, his children were now afraid and refused to attend school.

A video of Singh pleading with members of the neighborhood to stand up for and support him was shared by a Twitter user.
